History
It had been a dream of Sarah and Joanne’s from being young girls to work with children, and their desire to have a positive impact on children’s lives grew until the idea and opportunity arose to open Safe Haven. We started by approaching the Princess Youth trust and put a presentation together to hopefully get a grant and put a business plan together to approach the bank for a loan. We managed to acquire both, and with the help of family and friends Safe Haven began.
We had however concentrated so much on setting the business up, that we failed to think about doing some important advertising. So we started Safe Haven, with three members of staff and for a year had only a handful of children. We were unable to take a wage, but loved spending time, teaching and influencing these little lives that had been I trusted into our care.
We are now 18 years on, and have 180 children on roll, and 26 members of Staff. We have recently opened The den, which caters for children 5-14.
The journey has been a labour of love, but it has been worth every moment. We have been so privileged to be apart of so many children’s lives.
