Transitions
Ensuring that are children are happy and secure is our main objective. As the children grow the time inevitably comes when our children need to move into an older room until they eventually leave for school. These times can be very worrying for both parents and children, so we have a transitions policy that seeks to make this time relaxed and enjoyable.
The transition consists of a four week schedule of visits prior to them starting in their new room, although there is not a one-size-fits-all approach and we will tailor these sessions to the individual child’s needs. These visits are done at different times of day and gradually getting longer periods. The aim is that by the end of the four weeks the child is settled and familiar with the room and the staff.
Transitions to school are planned in advance too, once we know what school the child has been allocated we will make contact with the new school and arranges visits. This is done with constant contact and permission from the parents and information is shared with the new setting. This ensures that again the child and the new setting are familiar with each other, for a smooth transition.
